Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB)
Our Vision for Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) at LPJS
At Leas Park, we are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive and respectful community where every child feels valued, celebrated and a true sense of belonging. We believe that diversity enriches our school and that every member of our community has the right to be treated with dignity, fairness and respect.
Through our curriculum and wider school experiences, we actively champion equality, celebrate diversity and promote understanding of the Protected Characteristics set out in the Equality Act 2010. Alongside this, we embed British Values throughout all subjects and areas of school life, helping children to develop respect, tolerance, responsibility and an appreciation of the diverse society in which they live.
As proud participants in the Local Authority's Anti-Racist Education Programme, we are committed to ensuring that all children see themselves positively represented within our curriculum while developing the knowledge, understanding and confidence to challenge prejudice and discrimination. We strive to foster an environment where differences are recognised as strengths and where every child feels empowered to be their authentic self.
We believe that meaningful learning extends beyond the classroom. Through termly educational visits, visitors and enrichment opportunities, children gain first-hand experiences that broaden their horizons, deepen their understanding of the world and encourage curiosity about different cultures, communities and perspectives.
Our approach supports children's personal development and prepares them for life beyond Leas Park Junior School. We aim for every child to leave our school as a confident, compassionate and well-rounded individual who values diversity, champions inclusion and is proud of who they are. Equipped with the knowledge, skills and understanding to make informed choices, our pupils are prepared to contribute positively to an increasingly diverse society.
Above all, we nurture a strong sense of belonging, ensuring that every child knows they are seen, heard and valued as an important member of our school community.
